Parent update week of December 11 3rd ELA
In third grade Reading and English, this week we continued to focus on simple, compound, and complex sentences. They practiced a close read by finding evidence in the text, independently they working on their Anthology projects, as a class we read our whole class novel together, and they were introduced to Santa's Tracker by Google. This has different games, coding practice, and challenges for the students. Lastly, the enjoyed a feel good Friday by rolling skating a little bit longer and had ELA centers. 4th ELA In fourth grade Reading and English, this week students continued working on action, helping, and linking verbs. They were able to move along with their Anthology projects and our whole class novels, which we are almost done with. When we went into the lab, they were introduced to Santa's Tracker on Google, and we practiced using Google docs. Lastly, they enjoyed a feel good Friday by watching Dude Be Nice, and participating in ELA centers. 5th ELA In fifth grade Reading and English, this week students continued working on action, helping, and linking verbs. They were able to move along with their Anthology projects and our whole class novel, which we are almost done with. When we went into the lab, they were introduced to Santa's Tracker, which deals with different games and the coding process. Lastly, they helped 1st graders read stories and they enjoyed a feel good Friday by participating in centers. **** Food Drive items on Monday is: breakfast items---wear your pajamas

Parent update week of November 27 3rd ELA
This week in third grade Reading and English, we focused on character traits. Students used their inferring skills along with our interactive notebook lesson on traits to finish an independent practice with task cards. We revisited simple, compound, and complex sentences. They had to identify the difference between each sentence and then create sentences of their own in all of the three forms. As a class, we continued on in our Because of Winn-Dixie novel, they got a chance to explore Epic, a reading app on their iPads, and lastly they enjoyed a feel good Friday by participating in centers. 4th ELA This week in 4th grade Reading and English, students received a new unit of Greek and Latin root words to practice, we revisited the four types of sentences where they practiced independently, and we are continuing to work on our story devices: foreshadowing, flashback, cliffhanger, and suspense. As a class, we are continuing on in our Number the Stars book, they were introduced to Epic, a reading app in their iPads, and they enjoyed a feel good Friday by watching a Dudebenice clip and participating in centers. Our fourth grade class has also been starting each day by having one student share a poem to the class. 5th ELA In 5th grade Reading and English, students continued to work on their Greek and Latin roots words, we revisited the four types of sentences where they practiced independently, and we continuing to work on story devices: foreshadowing, flashback, cliffhanger, and suspense. As a class, we are continuing on in our Among the Hidden novel where we practice our story devices. They were introduced to Epic, a reading app, in their iPads, and they enjoued a feel good Friday by watching a Dudebenice and participating in centers. |
