Parent Update December 10th 3rd ELA
Last week in 3rd grade reading and English, we finally finished our whole class novel, Because of Winn-Dixie, and we compared the book to the movies to see what differences we could find. They were introduced to a new Greek and Latin root word, -ology. In the middle of the week, they were put into partners and they practiced informational text structures. We recapped pronouns, and lastly, they continued working on their Anthology projects which are due before winter break. 4th ELA Last week in 4th grade reading and English, they were introduced to their new Greek and Latin root words, all about movement. We practiced story plot by watching the classic, Hanzel and Gretel. On our writing day, they focused on the editing process by fixing sentences with a partner, then looking at their own writing and correcting using the CUPS (capitalization, usage, punctuation, spelling) method. They had an interactive lesson on prepositions, continued working on their Anthology which is due before winter break and lastly, enjoyed a Feel Good Friday with ELA centers. 5th ELA Last week in 5th grade reading and English, they were introduced to their new Greek and Latin root words, all about sight and touch.
