My students have an "interactive notebook" for my English and Reading classes. What is nice about an interactive notebook is, when I teach a lesson, they get to color, cut, and take notes which is more exciting than the traditional way of taking notes. We generally do one or two lessons a week in these notebooks, and this week we started focusing on figurative language specifically, similes and metaphors. We connect these lessons to the novel we are reading, their independent novels, and any other piece of literature they are reading. The first two pictures are examples of lessons we have done earlier this year, the second two pictures are lessons we did this week.
