3rd ELA
Last week in 3rd grade reading and English, we had a short, but good week. As we got back into the swing of things, we recapped some of the concepts from before break, and also dove right into a new lesson. We are currently working on possessive nouns, and we continue to read nonfiction text to figure out the text structure. This week, we will also be talking about the spelling bee, which 3rd graders get to participate in for the first time. 4th ELA Last week in 4th grade reading and English, we had a short week, but they were still introduced to new Greek and Latin root words, we practiced prepositions, and we worked hard on editing skills in writing. On Friday, they enjoyed "Chill Out" by reading in the gym and drinking hot cocoa to kick off our Read to Succeed program. This week we will be talking about the Spelling Bee which will be coming up in February, but we will start to practice in class. 5th ELA Last week in 5th grade reading and English, we had a short week, but they were still introduced to new Greek and Latin root words, we practiced prepositions, and we worked hard on editing skills in writing. We also listened to more of our whole class novel, Island. This week we will be talking about the Spelling Bee which will be coming up in February, but we will start to practice in class.
