Parent update week of March 5 3rd ELA
This week in 3rd grade Reading and English, students had a mini lesson on simple subjects and simple predicates. They continue to work on parts of speech almost everyday. Because Dr. Suess's birthday was last Friday, they had started a parts of speech project that they finished this week. We continue to work on looking up vocabulary from our classroom novel, Charlotte's Web, as well as read from it. Lastly, they enjoyed a Feel Good Friday. 4th ELA This week in 4th grade Reading and English, students finished up their Unit 8 Greek and Latin root words and took the quiz on them. They had an interactive notebook lesson on onomatopoeia which concludes our figurative language lessons.They will continue to practice figurative language throughout the rest of the school year. Since it was Dr. Suess's birthday last Friday, they started a project with Dr. Suess books and figurative language last week that they finished up this week, we continue to read out of our classroom novel, Holes, and lastly, they enjoyed a Feel Good Friday. 5th ELA This week in 5th grade Reading and English, students finished up their Greek and Latin Root words and took the quiz on the. They had an interactive notebook lesson on onomatopoeia words, which is the last figurative language concept they are going to learn about, however, they will continue to practice them throughout the school year. We have been work hard on writing and practicing their speeches that will be given in class at the end of the month, our classroom novel, Island, is almost finished, and lastly, they enjoyed a Feel Good Friday.
