parent update 3rd Grade ELA
This week in 3rd grade Reading and English class, they learned words with the Greek root word aqua. They were able to look up the words and figure out how they related to each other and what they had to do with water. We focused on our parts of speech, they had an interactive notebook lesson on conjunctions, they read a story called Sarah and the Bear and different reading skill were practiced, such as analyzing character feelings, and lastly we started Forward testing this week, so that has been taking up some of our class time. On Friday, they enjoyed a Feel Good Friday with mini ELA centers. 4th Grade ELA This week in 4th grade English and Reading class, the Greek and Latin roots words that were presented to them last week continued to be studied through this week and they had a quiz on them Friday, we focused on parts of speech, they had an interactive notebook lesson on informational text structures, which they will be practicing next week. Figurative language was recapped and they practiced by playing a Kahoot, then independently practiced. On Friday they enjoyed a Feel Good Friday, and since Forward testing has started, that has taken some of our class time. 5th Grade ELA This week in 5th grade English and Reading class, the Greek and Latin root words that were presented tot hem last week continued to be studied through this week and they had a quiz on them Friday, we focused on parts of speech, as a class, we have continued reading of whole class novel, Island, which is the second book in the series. They enjoyed a Feel Good Friday, and Forward testing has taken much of our ELA classes this week.
