Parent Update 3rd ELA
Last week in 3rd grade reading and English, they had a quiz on chapter 1-10 in our whole class novel to check comprehension. We continued to practice conjunctions, we read out of our scholastic magazines, they had a lesson on fact and opinion, and they enjoyed some creative writing time on our new website, Storybird. 4th ELA Last week in 4th grade reading and English, they took a Holes comprehension test to finish up the novel, on Tuesday they did a special NAEP test, we read out of our Scholastic magazines, and they had a lesson on onomatopoeia words. We will be starting our next whole class novel before Spring Break! 5th ELA Last week in 5th grade reading and English, our biggest focus was still school speech contest. In addition to listening to examples, writing, timing each other, and practicing, we added a new twist to class. They are having fun doing impromptu speeches, which allows them to get in front of the class for 1 minute to get used to having an audience, and it challenges them to talk off of the top of their head with no preparation. We also finished our second book in our trilogy. |
