Parent update week of November 27 3rd ELA
This week in third grade Reading and English, we focused on character traits. Students used their inferring skills along with our interactive notebook lesson on traits to finish an independent practice with task cards. We revisited simple, compound, and complex sentences. They had to identify the difference between each sentence and then create sentences of their own in all of the three forms. As a class, we continued on in our Because of Winn-Dixie novel, they got a chance to explore Epic, a reading app on their iPads, and lastly they enjoyed a feel good Friday by participating in centers. 4th ELA This week in 4th grade Reading and English, students received a new unit of Greek and Latin root words to practice, we revisited the four types of sentences where they practiced independently, and we are continuing to work on our story devices: foreshadowing, flashback, cliffhanger, and suspense.
